their introduction of their FP15TR-02, a 15" transflective LCD display
that is completely sunlight readable. The display consumes less than
20 watts of power and boasts a wide viewing angle, high contrast ratio,
and excellent grayscale to grayscale response times.
This new display is expected to play a strong role in making large size
LCD displays a viable medium in outdoor applications, such as point of
information/instructional kiosks, ATM's, outdoor advertising, marine
environments, and a number of industrial applications. According to FPD
Design Group's Director of Display Technologies, Joseph Kovach, "The
FP15TR-02 is really just a beautiful display. From an integrators
standpoint, heat dissapation and solar loading issues become much easier to
deal with, increasing MTBF numbers & dramatically decreasing TCO (total
cost of ownership) expenditures -and when you introduce that kind of
sound logical and financial information with a display that, for all
intensive purposes, is just flat out fun to look at, it's a tough choice
not to make."
The FP15TR-02 compliments a successful optical enhancement program
focused on LCD displays from 1.5 inches to over 30 inches. A 3-year
production life has been guarenteed on the FP15TR-02 as well as on a 17 inch
and 19 inch model which are expected to be released in late November
and December, respectively.
